When I pair new birds, I am always looking forward to producing big strong exhibition type birds. I am currently working with Spangles, Pieds,  Violet, Yellow Face Violets, Golden Face, Opalines, Rainbows, Greys, Cobalts among others...

I seldom hand-feed budgies. I feel English Budgies benefit from natural feeding and I handle them often from the nest box. These birds are as tame as some I handfed, in some cases, better.

My birds get corn on the cob, kale, parsley, broccoli, wheat grass, carrots, cucumber, millet and occasional fruits.

I do feed my own mixture of Budgie food.

I recommend ABBA

ENGLISH BUDGIES

As a child I always kept parakeets that my father gave to me...and maybe that is one of the many reasons why the English Budgerigars are so near and dear to me.

The huge lion head appearance of the English Budgerigar looks majestic, the interesting bright colors and the inquisitive playful personality intrigues me. I am always striving to improve the budgie I love so much. They love toys and are always clowning around and chattering. I do offer toys to all my birds. I feel it relieves boredom, provides entertainment and generally makes a happy bird.

And  I do admt that I really enjoy sitting in my aviary watching them play.

When I decided to breed English Budgies,  I began with purchasing the best birds I could afford. I took two trips to Florida to visit Joe Lastella and purchased many of his birds. He had so much knowledge and was always willing to share.  As a judge, mentor and breeder Joe was admired for his amazing birds. I then found other good exhibition size birds from other venues such as Stuart Saks,  John Ferrera and  Rick Spier who also have some really nice lines for what I am building.
