This was my first violet factor bourke I ever bred in 2004...He went on to father many birds for me, some of the birds I have now are his decendants. He was outstanding.
I love the deep rosie color and strive for that in my bourkes.

Bourkes are one of my favorite birds. I am working to create dark pink rosies, beautiful rainbow bourkes, lutinos and rubinos. I am also breeding for deeper color and blue in my normal wildtype birds. I have just acquired yellow in some of my babies. Very excited! Their striking color is truly amazing.
The sweet nature of the Bourke make these birds perfect companions and often hobbyists will keep them in flights with finches. I do sometimes handfeed my bourke babies, but even those that are not handfed, they too, are very sweet and calm.
Bourkes are quiet birds that softly chirp at dawn and dusk mostly. They are very docile so I do not recommend putting them with budgies, parrotlets or linnies.
